A
cheesy news article appeared in the Buffalo News, NY on August 9, 2002.
It included a quote similar to the one below. It is so lame that Dylan
(in true Dylan fashion) began using it as a tongue in cheek intro for
some
venues. Something is happening here, but you don't know what it is...
Do
you, Mr. Jones?
"Ladies and gentlemen.... please welcome the poet laureate
of rock-n-roll.
The voice of the promise of the sixties counterculture. The guy who
forced
folk into bed with rock. Who donned makeup in the seventies, and
disappeared
into a haze of substance abuse. Who emerged to find Jesus. Who was
written
off as a has-been by the end of the eighties, and who suddenly shifted
gears; releasing some of the strongest music of his career beginning in
the late nineties.....
Ladies and gentlemen.... Columbia recording artist... Bob
Dylan."
This
introduction was transcribed by bobsboots.com from the St.Paul,
Minnesota
show on Oct. 30, 2002
All shows that were introduced this way used this exact intro. or a
very similar one with a word change here or there.
The Introduction is given (as it has been for the past decade) by
Dylan's tour manager Al Santos .
