Review:
An excellent recording. Full, upfront, loud, and clear. The vocals tend to have a bit of an echo here and there, and there's the presence of an enthusiastic audience; but overall it's an enjoyable listen. The performances are uniformly very good, however the 'sing-song' voice is in evidence at many points. This tour was destined to be overshadowed by the fantastic Fall 2002 shows which followed, and perhaps in retrospect, the particular leg of the touring year represented by this disc seems only average in comparison. Nice performances throughout, although nothing really remarkable. Tambourine Man Records seriously need to pick their fillers better, the tracks are already available on the companion release Acoustic Man In Augusta. So... minus points for that oversight. The second problem is that the packaging is as dismal and unimaginative as the title. Once again they've borrowed from Acoustic Man In Augusta... the back cover photos are the same! More care and attention to detail is needed from TMR. If they get rid of the minor hitches, and pay more attention to the overall detail of their releases, they would be more desirable to the collector. As it is, it's a fine recording presented in a bit of a sub par package with badly chosen fillers. Recommended if you're looking for a disc from this leg, but again... not essential.
