Review:
A mixed review for this title. The package is minimal. It doesn't even mention that To Ramona features Jerry Garcia on lead guitar. The presentation is minimal as well, seeing that less than half of the Dylan tunes from this show are represented here. The recording is from the soundboard, but it has been heavily compressed and has a cold, sterile, harsh sound. The reason for this was to mask the fact that it was actually recorded from a 1983 boot LP entitled "Live Adventures Of Bob And Jerry". The vinyl pops are gone, as is most audience noise. It was also released under the title You Gotta Serve. As the audience is virtually nonexistent, the CD has more of a studio feel. The performance is fair. The music strays very little from the released studio versions, but Dylan lacks some of the passion of the studio. I'm a fan of the gospel material, but as far as this particular recording goes, one might be better off with the official studio releases, or the original vinyl LP boot. There have since been many CD titles released  of this same venue, as well. After a year of gospel tunes, the Fox residency is the first emergence of the secular songs (hence the reprehensible title).
