The mics are up and away from the audience, and for the most part it has the feel of a soundboard recording. The vocals are way out on top. But when all's said and done, this is just another show. Nothing remarkable. Nothing reaches out and grabs you. Masters Of War is perhaps the best. The 85 minute show would not fit onto one disc, so one song was added to a second disc, along with bonus material from various July shows in Europe. The filler is well chosen. The delicate It's All Over Now Baby Blue is arguably the best performed song on this two disc set, followed closely by an equally tender Love Minus Zero, and a majestic Tears Of Rage In fact, the majority of the filler is better than anything from the Paris show. The biggest complaint is the packaging. While the surrealistic 'Tim Burton' artwork is beautifully done, and meant to elicit images of Napoleon in rags; what one hopes for in a package such as this is photos of Dylan. The information could be more explicit as well. © 1995, 2000 CD Pinkerton / bobsboots.com |
