Review:
A wonderful set. If you are an  Oh Mercy, and/or studio outtake material fan, this one is not to be missed. Digital filtering has removed most tape hiss from this 2nd generation mix console recording. It has been suggested that it was recorded 'through the air' with an open mic, and the air noise then removed. If this is the case, however, it has been cleaned up very nicely. The main problem is that the filtering has left it slightly over processed at times, with a thin, metallic edge that belies the original analog recording. Don't let this minor problem hinder your enjoyment of this newly circulated material. The package photos are very nice. The over all aesthetics and Oh Mercy inspired graphics help to put this one over the top.

Note:
If your ears are sensitive to the digital filter process, there is a release entitled The Deeds Of Mercy that represents the analog recording. However, the slightly different tracks and white noise hiss make it hard to rate either disc as 'better' than the other.
