Review:
This is unlikely to be a favorite for many people, even if you're used to audience recordings. You feel as if you're right there in the audience... just an awfully long way from the stage. The vocals come through loud and clear, and are strong and often quite impassioned; but the arrangements are long, plodding, dreary and sometimes plain weird (such as a TUIB that sounds like a drunken Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band... right down to the pointless tempo shifts.)  The sound improves slightly on the bonus tracks... but the performance doesn't. Nevertheless, there are highlights: all four acoustic tracks * stand out so far above the rest that it's almost comical. The bonus material from '91 is an odd filler, and even stranger is the way that it's added to each disc. The package aesthetics are fairly good. The venues are listed by city, but omit the state. McCaw Hall is misspelled on the back and the insert as well as "Folsom".
