Review:
As strange as it may sound, this wonderful sounding package is actually a pirate CD boot. It seems that the Label Wild Wolf copied a fan produced CD-r package entitled To Dance Beneath The German Sky. That title came from this acoustic performance of  Tambourine Man where Bob uses those lyrics. The cover was copied from the cover of a Sony promotional CD single of the song Things Have Changed. Ironically, the title song Across The Borderline, that had been performed the previous year, was not performed during 1999. Either way you obtain it, this set is most definitely worth your while. The songs are mostly rarities that were not performed in many venues, or either great performances of the standards. The first disc is acoustic, and arguably contains the better performances of the two. The second disc is all electric, but the electric songs are mostly laid back, slow ones, that lend themselves to the acoustic set. Songs are thoughtfully arranged so that as the disc progresses, the songs get more of an electric feel. The songs were mastered onto a multi-track tape that allowed the compiler to blend each song seamlessly into the next, giving the "sets" the feel of a continuous concert. Although some songs vary ever-so-slightly in sound quality, not even the trained ear will catch the splices between them. A true labor of love that creates the ultimate rare Bob Dylan concert.
