of Bob (Vol. 1)
source: 2nd Gaslight Café tape Tracks: Hard Rain Black Cross (Joe Newman arr. by Lord Buckley) No More Auction Block (Trad.)* Rocks and Gravel (Adapted from McGee/Carr) Don't Think Twice Barbara Allen (Trad.) Moonshine Blues (Trad.) Review: The packaging is bare minimal. The worst offense is that this common, easily identified venue is not listed anywhere on the CD. The cover and back inserts are pieces of the thinnest paper imaginable. The front does, however, have a nice full color concert photo of Dylan (albeit years later from the wrong venue). The final complaint is that the disc contains a minimal amount of songs. All tracks from d-45 could easily have been combined onto this disc to create one continuous playing CD that would be well worth the money. The company did rerelease this disc, combined with most of the tracks from d-45 and titled it "Rare Performances I". All complaints registered, I must say that the quality of the recording is superior to many others I've heard of this venue. With one song finding its' way to official release, however, that leaves six songs on this disc. Hardly worth the full price charged of a boot. The Gaslight recordings have been released in many different packages over the years. They are are an absolute 'must-have' for any serious Dylan collector. * Subsequently released on the official CBS LP 'Bootleg Series Volumes 1-3'.
