(Like A Crocodile)
source: Netherlands June 10, 1989 Tracks: Most Likely You Go Your Way Ballad Of Hollis Brown Masters Of War I'll Be Your Baby Tonight (harp) Shelter From The Storm (harp) Highway 61 Revisited Mr Tambourine Man (acoustic) Don't Think Twice (acoustic) Knockin On Heaven's Door (acoustic w/band) I Don't Believe You (harp) Trail Of The Buffalo I Shall Be Released Like A Rolling Stone To Ramona (acoustic) (harp) All Along The Watchtower Review: This is a stereo audience recording. There is a slight overall muffled feel to the electric songs (as if the mics had been covered with a cloth) but it doesn't detract much. The performance is among the better shows of 1989. The vocals are powerful, and up front. The sound is full and only slightly on the thin side. The songs that work best (on all levels) are the acoustics ones. The set is typical of the G.E. Smith tour. The band is fast and furious on the first several electric songs. They seem to be having fun, but Smith is never quite sure when Dylan will break or begin singing again. After the acoustic break, the band is tamed somewhat, and the songs flow a little better. Includes the entire concert on one disc, and a most rare electric rendition of Ballad Of Hollis Brown. As for the artwork, the package aesthetics are weak. The images are little more than two color xerox. A fair effort for this upstart company. © 2001 CD Pinkerton - bobsboots.com |
