Most of the time you'll think that you're hearing a soundboard tape. The overall sound is warm and mellow. The instruments are blended perfectly. Vocals are up front and powerful. The harmonica is only very slightly too loud, but not at all offensive. TUIB is a tad fast, which often causes Bob to stumble through some lyrics. Queen Jane is a tad slow, which can cause Bob to "float around" the proper notes. Neither is the case here. Fast or slow, Dylan is on fire... he can do no wrong. J. Saurer's wonderfully drawn and detailed caricature in rich, vibrant colors finish off this great set. This is not a jewel case, rather a gate-fold cardboard sleeve that is reminiscent of the old folding LP dust jackets. The original release includes the silk screen disc as seen here, but it was re-released eight years later as a CD-r with a simple text, clear stick on label The standard early '95 set is executed flawlessly. The bonus tracks represent songs added to the fall tour, and along with the show, present a good representation of the best of 1995. They are well performed, but the mid high db reduction that smoothes out the Belgium show causes the bonus tracks to be heavily muffled. Nonetheless, this package is a most worthy addition to any collection. © 2000 CD Pinkerton bobsboots.com |
